Study of "Memorat" in the Folk Culture of Khanaqin Diyla Province - Iraq

Аннотация: Jinns and devils replaced the souls which were called "iye" after Turkish people embraced Islam. The common tales and stories among people about devils, jinns and supernatural creatures have continued between Turkish people also after believing in Islam. These tales contribute in the enrichment of Turkish folk culture.
According to the prevailing opinion among people; there are supernatural creatures live with women. Some of them are helpful, the others are harmful .This believing led to creating "Memorat" and added great reliability to its contents as well as the issue of "Memorat" is compatible with the social and psychological culture of the formation of societies.
Jinns, souls and supernatural creatures have been a source of fear and panic for people and societies since the first ages of mankind until our present day. The common tales among people about these matters are called "Memorat"; is a type of oral folk literature but differs from the other types as its characters are people that we meet , see and talk to them in our daily life. Also, its incidents occur up to date. "Memorat" reflects customs, traditions, beliefs and cultures of the societies.
In this paper, many texts of "Memorat" are collected from an oral sources in Khanaqin district Diyala province - Iraq. Then, we wrote down, analyzed and classified these texts carefully. No more than (50) texts of "Memorat" are discussed in this study. And we will tackle this study widely in the future in order to make it a book. s texts into the modern We changed the spoken Turkmen accent of Memorat written Turkish language. This study is regarded the first academic study about "Memorat" concerning Iraqi Turkmen in general and Khanaqin Turkmen specifically.
